EPF Updates 2025 - How to keep your EPF account active and in good status

It is important to keep your EPF account up-to-date and verified. This ensures that when you need to withdraw your money, there are no surprises. Here are few important things to take care of:

1. Mark Exit

EPFO has recently started giving a warning message to all EPF employee, saying 'Dear EPF Member, kindly mark your exit date within one month of leaving the establishment.'

So we need to make sure that all your employments / services are accurately captured on the epfo employee portal.

You can check this by following these steps:

  1. Login to EPF employee portal
  2. On member portal, go to "View" -> "Service History.". This gives your service details.
  3. Against each service, make sure following dates are visible properly - DOJ EPF, DOE EPF, DOJ EPS, DOE EPS

These abbrevations meaning are:

  • DOJ EPF: date of joining EPF, means the date you have joined the employment
  • DOE EPF: date of exiting EPF, means your last date of the employment. This will be empty or 'not available' if you are still in this employment
  • DOJ EPS: date of joining EPS. This should be same as DOJ EPF
  • DOE EPS: date of exiting EPS. This should be same as DOE EPF. This will be empty or 'not available' if you are still in this employment

Please note that these dates are typically entered by your employer when you join and exit the company.

If some of your exit dates are not updated on the EPF portal, now you can also you the 'Mark Exit' option available on EPF website. Follow these steps:

  1. Login to EPF employee portal
  2. On member portal, go to "Manage" -> "Mark Exit"

Now you can provide the exit details of all employments that don't have an exit date in the system.

2. Aadhaar Linked Mobile Number Verification

You need to make sure that your mobile number is is verified state. To check do following:

  1. Login to EPF employee portal
  2. On member portal, go to "Manage" -> "Contact Details". You can check there if your mobile number is in verified state or not.

If it is not in verified state, please click on 'Verify' and enter otp received on your mobile. Please note that you will have 2 otp verification twice. First, you will receive OTP from EPFO. Second, you will receive the otp from Aadhar. Enter both these otps and your mobile number will become verified.
